The Stratford-sub-Castle area has been lived in more or less continuously (with the possible exception of part of the Saxon period) since at least the Bronze Age.
Our attractive church, St Lawrence, is particularly interesting for the many periods represented in its structure from the 1100's through to the present day. There was probably an earlier church, and possibly a pagan temple, on the site.
We have several houses of historical significance in the village. As well as a photo we provide a description of the specific aspects that are historically important.
We have had some nationally important people living in our village as well as some who are important to those of us who live here.
Old Sarum is the historical jewel in the crown of our parish. There are many topics associated with it and we will be adding more details as we develop the site.
